SR20m set for 1500 orphans in Riyadh

(MENAFN - Arab News) The riyadh-based charity committee for orphans care (ensan) and the national commercial bank (ncb) have signed a deal worth sr20 million aimed at supporting 1500 orphans over the next five years saudi press agency said.

the deal was signed by riyadh gov. prince khaled bin bandar board chairman of ensan and ncb board chairman mansour al-miman.

the deal coincides with the launch of the second conference for orphans being organized by ensan.

the event launched by prince khalid began sessions at the princess noura bint abdulrahman university (pnau) on tuesday and will run for three days.

according to the deal ensan will select a group of orphans to join the ncb orphan care program.

the program reportedly provides educational and training services for attendees including english language teaching computer and leadership skills and a five-year health insurance plan.

the program also provides a monthly fund to meet students' personal needs and rehabilitation programs that are in line with educational age and interests the agency said.

abulrahaman al-suwailim general supervisor of the conference said the conference will explore four major topics: quality at orphan care institutions coordination and integration legislation and orphan empowerment.

ensan has provided services to more than 40000 orphans and widows throughout 13 branches in riyadh.

in addition more than 200 orphans were sent to study abroad within the king abdullah scholarship program (kasp) he said.

social affairs minister yusuf al-othaimin said the ministry has been extending care to orphans through 14 charity societies kingdom-wide.

more than sr63 million was spent on charity organizations last year he said.
