Three Dead 30 Missing in Colombia Mine Collapse


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Bogota May 01 - At least three people were reported dead and 30 others were missing and feared dead following the collapse of a mine in Colombia news reports said Thursday.

The accident occurred in an illegal gold mine in the south-western region of Cauca the news agency RCN reported. Another eight miners were injured in the collapse which occurred overnight the DPA reported.

Luis Eduardo Grijalbo mayor of the nearby town of Santander de Quilichao said he didn't expect other survivors to be found.

The accident comes four weeks after four miners died in an explosion at an illegal gold mine in the Antioquia region.
