Japan Britain to Boost Security Ties Seek Trade Deal in 2015


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Tokyo May 01 -Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe agreed Thursday with his British counterpart David Cameron to boost bilateral security cooperation including sharing military supplies and jointly developing defense equipment.

Meeting at 10 Downing Street the two leaders also agreed to seek a substantive agreement in 2015 on free trade negotiations between Japan and the European Union the first time such a specific goal has been stated in a leaders' statement relayed by Kyodo news agency.

Britain is one of the 28 members of the bloc.

"I hope (Japan) can develop a cooperative relationship in areas of security and economy with Britain which shares with us the values of freedom and democracy" Abe told Cameron during the meeting part of which was open to the press.
