(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Abu Dhabi May 01 -The UAE foreign ministry has expressed deep thanks to Yemen for its efforts in foiling a kidnapping operation of a UAE diplomat in Sanaa last March and highly appreciated its success for foiling such attempt.
The Yemen authorities arrested an armed cell that had been planning to kidnap the UAE's charge d'affaires after a string of abductions that targeted Westerners and diplomats in the country.
"The UAE Foreign Ministry thanks the Yemeni authorities for its efforts in securing the headquarters of UAE mission and its diplomats in Sanaa city" the UAE foreign ministry said in a statement relayed by WAM news agency.
The statement added that "the foreign ministry affirms the strong and standing fraternal relations between UAE and Yemen and the country's keenness and interest in strengthening and enhancing such relations."
