Singapore?s BCA and Gates Ecosystem to upgrade Cochin city


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A high level delegation from international development division of the bca visited the city and offered its ?game-changing? technology to build a friendly and sustainable environment in cochin that has many similarities with singapore.

the building and construction authority (bca) of government of singapore has agreed to partner with development agencies and industry in kerala to elevate the port city of cochin to a global city.

the agency has joined hands with gates ecosystem a platform created by returning non-resident indians (nris) to identify the right kind of opportunities that bca and other singapore companies can partner with in the city.

the gates ecosystem initiated by prominent nris in the middle east with the aim of pooling their resources knowledge expertise and vision for the development of the state will act as a catalyst in the transformation of the city in a harmonious setting.

the bca delegation led by executive manager zeng han jun held extensive interactions with gates executives and office bearers of the cochin corporation and greater cochin development authority and explored areas of cooperation during their two-day visit of the city last week.

a gates delegation will visit singapore in june this year to take the discussions to the next level said balagopal valiyath director of the gates ecosystem. he told khaleej times that the bca had expressed keen interest in associating with the development of it parks incubation hubs transportation facilities centres of excellence and a global finance resource centre.

the delegation also expressed willingness to associate with the ‘new township’ project proposed by the cochin corporation during their talks with mayor tony chammany. the township project envisages developing an international resident hub with all modern facilities including business centres schools hospitals shopping malls and parks within the township.

the delegation also discussed the possibility of participating in an it hub project mooted by gates ecosystem. the hub is proposed as a self-sustained integrated township with all supporting infrastructure like residential educational hospitality healthcare and recreation within walking distance.

it was mutually agreed that bca participating in this model township would pave the way for many of the singapore companies also to participate in the gates project as well as several other emerging opportunities in cochin.

the bca delegates expressed the hope that these projects would help cochin develop into a city of international standards. the meeting also discussed the opportunity of developing bilateral relationship between the businesses in singapore and cochin through the gates ecosystem.
