Illegal butchers will be deported from RAK

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Close monitoring intensified inspection raids as well as the stringent penalties have led to a significant drop in cases of slaughtering animals outside the designated slaughterhouses.

illegal street butchers posing a grave risk to public health shall be referred to the immigration authorities for immediate deportation as per a municipal decree.

khalifa mohammed al maktoum manager of the health and environment department at the rak municipality said the punishment is meant to curb illegal butchers and protect consumers.

“the close monitoring intensified inspection raids as well as the stringent penalties have led to a significant drop in cases of slaughtering animals outside the designated slaughterhouses.”

the slaughtering capacity of the ras al khaimah central abattoir at the filya area has increased by 30 per cent this year so far as compared to the same period last year due to the strict penalties he added.

“the rak municipality provides qualified and trained vets who thoroughly and accurately examined the animal before and after the slaughtering process to make sure it is disease and infection free” maktoum said.

residents here avoid going to slaughterhouses and instead opt for butchers roaming near the animal market area as it would save their time and energy of taking the animal to the abattoir and waiting in long queues

“but such an illegal slaughtering is very risky and unhealthy because some of the animals were sick and unfit for human consumption.”

illegal laundry shops

meanwhile the rak municipality has nabbed 40 illegal laundry shops operating near labour accommodations this april. “the said laundry shops were given a grace period of 14 days to amend their positions in view of set rules” maktoum said.

adding he said the clothes seized were cleaned and dried in an improper way that could lead to the of spread contagious diseases. “while 80 per cent of the laundry shops inspected in the emirate proved to be flouting rules the remaining 20 per cent were observing the set health regulations.”
