Shell profits down 3 percent in Q1


(MENAFN) Royal Dutch Shell, the Anglo-Dutch oil and gas giant, reported a decrease in its profits in the first quarter of the current year, Xinhua reported. The firm's net income decreased by 3 percent, reaching USD7.33 billion in the first quarter of 2014 compared to a year earlier. The current cost of supplies earnings decreased by 44 percent from USD7.95 billion to reach USD4.46 billion in the January-March period of 2014. "Our first quarter 2014 results reflect more robust levels of profitability," the firm's CEO said in a statement.
