(MENAFN - Arab News) The ministry of municipal and rural affairs has given the ministry of housing 8.5 million square meters of land in madinah to build homes for saudi citizens.
prince mansour bin miteb the minister and madinah gov. prince faisal bin salman have been coordinating the handover.
the first property of 4.6 million square meters is along king abdulaziz road and the other is 3.9 million square meters on hail road north of prince mohammad bin abdulaziz international airport.
prince mansour has issued orders for the properties to be cleared and handed over this week said khalid abdulqader secretary-general of the local municipality.
the housing ministry would carry out various surveys and tests particularly to ensure houses are safe from flooding.
the land transfer is part of the ministry's efforts to ensure land is made available for housing and other needs.
the madinah municipality has created more than 17000 residential areas under various government-approved schemes on over 5700 plots of lands.
