(MENAFN - Arab News) Police have arrested an expatriate in riyadh for trying to bribe a labor ministry official to get visas. the ministry and the intelligence services were involved in the arrest.
labor minister adel fakeih disclosed the arrest on his twitter account and said the man is under investigation.
mufrej al-haqabani deputy labor minister said a labor official informed the ministry that the man was trying to bribe him.
intelligence officers then checked out the man and found he was involved in visa trading inside and outside the kingdom. the ministry did not reveal his nationality.
al-haqabani said the police also arrested two other men who were with the visa trader. he said the ministry was determined to combat corruption.
'we are investigating the visa trader's connections with foreign networks and will release all details later" he said.
he commended intelligence officers for their cooperation and quick action to arrest the trader and his accomplices.
the labor ministry said it would take new measures to prevent illegal visa trade adding that it would block fake firms from recruiting foreigners. work permits issued by fake companies commonly described as "free visas" are being blamed for various ills in the kingdom's labor market.
