(MENAFN - Arab News) Jeddah gov. prince mishaal bin majed recently presented a memento to walid bin saleh al-oloumi adviser at saudia's public relations department for media and production in appreciation of the airline's support for prince majed charitable society for social development and services.

the memento was awarded during the charity's general assembly meeting at lailaty hall in jeddah.

prince mishaal who is president of the society's board of directors presided over the meeting which heard a report on the charity's activities and achievements in 2013.

prince mishaal emphasized his charity's efforts to achieve sustainable social development by implementing a strategic program.

'we focus on investing in human capital" the governor said adding that the charity applies world-class standards to improve its performance.

he stressed the society's plan to implement a number of successful initiatives for social and economic development in the coming years. 'our initiatives and programs are designed to meet the society's requirements."

al-oloumi thanked prince mishaal for honoring saudia that supports charitable societies in the kingdom as part of its corporate social responsibility.

'we also support cultural educational and social activities organized by public and private agencies as well as campaigns to enlighten the public on the dangerous effects of drugs and smoking" he added.

the national flag carrier will sponsor a program at king khaled university hospital in riyadh to mark the world cancer day he said adding that this is for the second year 'we are supporting" the event.

'by participating in this event we share the happiness of cancer patients who have recovered from the disease along with their family members" he added.
