DFI to Screen Two Films on Autism at MIA


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Doha April 30 - Doha Film Institute will screen at the Museum of Islamic Art auditorium on May 1 and 2 a film titled 'The Brain That Sings' which probes challenges of children suffering from autism.

Emirati Amal Al Agroobi is the director of the 50-minute documentary that follows the lives of six-year-old Khalifa and 19-year-old Mohammed the two autistic boys from the United Arab Emirates who go through music therapy over three months.

The Parental Guidance-rated film is in Arabic and English with subtitles in both languages.

This film will be preceded by a three minute narrative titled 'One in Five' by Qatari short film-maker Jawaher Al Khater. This film talks about a Qatari mother's effort to connect with her young autistic son.

A question and answer session with filmmakers will follow the screenings to be held 7pm on May 1 and 2.
