Russian army chief included in EU sanction list

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The EU on Tuesday published in its Official Journal 15 more names, including Russians and pro-Russian separatist leaders in Eastern Ukraine, to its sanctions list which imposes a travel ban and freezing of their assets in the EU. The 15 names were included for "actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine and in view of the gravity of the situation" in eastern Ukraine, noted an EU statement. The most prominent person on the blacklist is the head of the Russian army, Valery Vasilevich Gerasimov, "responsible for the massive deployment of Russian troops along the border with Ukraine and lack of de-escalation of the situation." It includes Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Nikolayevich Kozak and Deputy Chairmen of State Duma Ludmila Ivanovna Shvetsova and Sergei Ivanovich Neverov.
