(MENAFN - #Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Parliament speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim said the house succeeded Tuesday in correcting "democratic malpractices" after majority of MPs approved to lift off agenda "an unconstitutional" grilling against His Highness the premier.

"The National Assembly will not accept any unconstitutional practice out of keenness of preserving the constitution. It however welcomes any constitutional practice for the interpellation," Al-Ghanim told reporters after a parliament's session.

He said the parliament was the body to decide whether a grilling was constitutional or not.

Al-Ghanim said o MP could submit an interpellation that was unconstitutional.

The speaker said lifting the interpellation off the agenda "has brought back democracy to the right path and in line with the constitution and its articles." He said the majority of constitutional experts concluded that the interpellation against His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah was unconstitutional thus should be removed from the agenda.

Lifting the grilling off the agenda, added Al-Ghanim, was based on the constitutional court's rulings in 2006 and 2011. "Therefore, we cannot ask the constitutional court again."
