inspired by kamran akmal’s swashbuckling knock of 54 runs gmw sharjah royal challengers defeated danube mumbai warriors by 27 runs in group c match of the superstars t20 tournament season ii at fairgrounds oval dubai academic city dubai men’s collage.

the superstars t20 tournament is organised by dcc in collaboration with web channel and in association with jyk.

on a green track with plenty of cracks in it danube mumbai warriors captain asad shafiq had hoped it would be easier to bat under lights but his decision to bowl first backfired as the ball jagged around after sunset. set a seemingly straightforward target of 170 mumbai warriors lost wickets regularly and though rohan mustafa briefly threatened to take the game close wound up well short.

in reply sharjah royals cruised to a big win. the biggest difference was the impact made by the teams’ overseas players kamran akmalm who set up the innings with a 54 muhammed asif squeezed the chase with a burst of 3-0-12-1 at the middle of the innings and naveed saleem scalped three for only 12 runs.

the man-of-the-match was awarded to the kamran akmal for his match-winning efforts.

kamran was awarded with a trophy and gift hamper worth dh200 from multiplex international.

in another match interface delhi mughals beat afridi’s peshawar panthers by four wickets.

peshawar’s captain khan mohammed afridi won the toss and decided to bat first. peshawar got off to a good and tentative start by scoring 41 for no loss in the first six overs. then courtesy some very good tight spell from delhi’s mohammed tariq who took 4 wickets for 19 runs restricted peshawar to average score of 123 for the loss of eight wickets.

at the break mohammed afridi said it wouldn’t be an easy chase for the delhi mugals batsmen on the slow pitch. the way salman babar and mohammed ibtisham played the first two overs suggested they had taken afridi’s advice seriously. once the chase was set in motion though it was jagrit anand who took the front seat blitzing powerful boundaries through extra cover and midwicket off successive deliveries. peshawar panthers’ only chance in the match was to somehow dismantle the strong batting order.

they did get a sniff as ibtisham and tariq departed in successive overs. that was to have no effect on anand though who apart from giving respect to amir jaffery kept on peppering the boundary regularly off other bowlers and brought up his half-century in 38 balls. delhi mughals were almost level with peshawar panthers score at the eight-over stage but they were in no mood to commit the same errors and cantered past the target with 4.4 overs to spare and four wickets in hand.

man of the match was awarded to the jagrit anand for his match winning efforts. anand was awarded with a trophy and gift hamper worth dh200 from multiplex international.
