(MENAFN - Arab News) The haj ministry has warned that it would take strict action against haj companies who are found raising hotel prices for domestic pilgrims during this year's haj pilgrimage.

the ministry has begun early allocation of haj accommodation in order to maintain price stability and has warned facilities to keep prices affordable.

'this decision came into effect last year and will continue into the current year" ministry sorces said.



'the haj ministry examined and verified unjustified price hikes made by haj companies last year and took punitive action against them" adel balkhair secretary for haj affairs at the ministry said in a statement monday.

balkhair did not elaborate on type of penalties erring facilities will incur.

balkhair said that the ministry had formed a committee to monitor haj prices in a bid to curb unjustified price increases.
