German Consumer Price Index Misses Target Fears of Deflation


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Berlin April 29 - Consumer price inflation (CPI) in Germany rose Tuesday to 1.3% year-on-year. The figure is 0.1% less than expected sparking concern over risks of deflation in the Eurozone.

The German Federal Statistics Bureau said in a report that consumer price inflation accelerated at an annualized rate of 1.3% this month up from 1% in March. CPI was projected to increase by 1.4% in April. As for month-over-month German consumer prices declined 0.2% this month compared to forecasts for a drop of 0.1% after rising 0.3% in the preceding month.
