Israel Seizes 28000 Dunams of West Bank Land for Settlement Construction


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Ramallah April 29 - The Israeli Civil Administration has approved the seizure of 28000 dunams of West Bank strategic areas for settlement construction Haaretz daily reported on Tuesday.

Haaretz said in a report relayed by Petra news agency today that the 28000 dunams (6919 acres) were approved by the Civil Administration's task force for demarcating state land Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordechai the government coordinator in the territories told a Knesset subcommittee this week.

The newspaper explained that more than half of this record amount of land which is located outside the West Bank separation barrier was confirmed as state land last year a critical step toward handing over the land to settlements so that more homes can be built on it.

Haaretz indicated that the plot was assigned for strategic building in 40 settlements where 13000 dunams west of the apartheid wall were seized for this purpose while the rest of the land is located east of the wall.

Meanwhile the Israeli authority will legitimize a large number of illegal outposts after seizing this record amount of land the newspaper said.
