(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Former champions Seeb and Al Nasr moved to the top of their respective groups with six points each in the ongoing domestic hockey league after they won their opening matches recently.
Seeb first beat Al Salam 3-1 before edging out Ahli-Sidab 2-1 in matches played in Muscat.
Playing under its new coach, Mukul Pandey, Seeb impressed in both the matches.
In Salalah, Al Nasr began its campaign by hammering Al Ittihad 4-0 before thrashing Salalah by the same scoreline.
The first group consists of four teams from the Muscat and Batinah regions, while the second group comprises four sides from the Dhofar region.
In the first group, Muscat is in second place with four points, followed by Ahli-Sidab (1) and Al Salam (0). In the second group, Dhofar lies behind Al Nasr in second place with six points, trailing due to inferior goal-difference.
Al Ittihad and Salalah are yet to open their account.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the final round, which will be played from May 21-31 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.
The third and fourth-placed teams for both groups will play each other out in a three-day playoff tournament, from May 12-15.
The top two teams from the playoff round will then join the other four teams in the final round.
