two other pakistanis including a businessman and an unemployed aged 23 and 28 are accused of helping them escape justice by trying to secure their exit of the country in an illegal way even though they were aware of the murder and theft. the businessman is also charged with possession of stolen money.

the body was discovered by the victim’s flatmate a 35-year-old afghani vendor. he said in the investigation that he came home at around 4.20 am on december 11 last year and found the victim’s bed empty. he thought that he was still out. but then he found his keys on a table and beside the bed and he spotted the victim lying down on his back in a pool of blood. there was blood on the room’s wall.

the flatmate told the police that he had left the flat around 11.30pm while one of the main defendants (the visitor) was doing some accounting work with the victim and another man.

the witness said in the interrogation that the visitor knew that the victim used to keep money in a safe in an office inside the flat.

a senior police officer said that they learnt that the victim had a financial dispute with the visitor and the latter disappeared and absconded from work right after the murder.

the police arrested the third accused (the businessman) in sharjah after 4pm on the following day. more than dh43000 was found on him and dh143000 and 14000 were also found in his place.

the police officer quoted the businessman as admitting that the two main defendants came to him around 7.30 am on the incident day.

“he said that they looked agitated and the technician had injury marks on his face. the visitor told the businessman that he slit his sponsor’s throat with a blade and left him to die.”

they solicited his help to sneak out of the country. the businessman contacted the fourth accused for that matter and they asked them for dh5000 for that help.

the police were raiding the latter’s place in sharjah’s industrial area when he got a call from the visitor who claimed he desperately needed dh20000.

the police apprehended the main accused around 9pm on the same day.

the visitor alleged in the interrogation that the victim verbally abused him and initiated the attack following a brawl over money collection. the blade was used to open cardboard boxes. he claimed he acted in self-defence.
