Mauritania Free Zone Authority ICD vow strategic partnership


(MENAFN- Arab News) The islamic corporation for the development of the private sector (icd) a member of the islamic development bank group has signed with the free zone authority of nouadhibou a memorandum of understanding (mou) aimed at creating a framework for the continuation of the fruitful cooperation between the two sides.

this mou will strengthen the complementary roles played by each party and solidify this partnership for the support of the private sector development in mauritania.

plans for the icd and authority to study the establishment of institutional and operational structures in the fishing sector with the view of strengthening the capacity of surface cooling and conversion.

at the same time both sides will also work to explore all promising investment opportunities that could be bankable for the sake of developing the free zone of nouadhibou within the comprehensive development plan spelled out in the mou.

both sides also agreed to develop a joint plan of cooperation to strengthen the capacity of the free zone authority of nouadhibou by mandating the icd as the adviser to the free zone authority.

as the adviser the icd will supervise the studies for the development of the free zone as well as provide institutional support to enhance the organization structure capacity building of cadres and enhance workflow and policies for the free zone authority.

this will be through the design and implementation of specialized programs for technical cooperation and exchange of experiences with development partners from international donors and from other member countries of the islamic development bank group.

khaled mohammed al-aboodi chief executive officer of the icd said: 'the icd aims to overcome the difficulties faced in developing special economic zones by availing the appropriate advisory services in meeting the requirements of our partners in the member countries. this will be through building a network of specialized consultants and experts in order to strengthen internal capabilities and move forward in the development of projects from just a feasible idea to a real existing project. '

mohamed ould daf president of the free zone authority of nouadhibou said he is very happy with the signing of this agreement.

he said the agreement calls for a strategic partnership between the free zone authority of nouadhibou and the islamic corporation for the development of private sector development (icd).

this partnership will help set up a developmental roadmap for the city of nouadhibou by giving priority to projects that can utilize the city's resources such as the huge fishing industry and be able to strengthen the capacity of this sector.

in addition to advisory services in the field of preparation and follow-up management of major port facilities planned in nouadhibo

the nouadhibou free zone authority is headquartered in the city of nouadhibou.
