Egyptian Court Bans Group Behind January 25 Revolution

(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) Cairo April 28 - An Egyptian court banned Monday all the activities of April 6 movement and ordered the confiscation of all its headquarters.

The group was accused of engaging in activities that distorted the image of the Egyptian state. Current leader of the group Ahmed Maher is serving three years in prison for protesting without a permit. The verdict can be appealed.

April 6 movement played a significant role in Egyptian political life during Mubarak's era. In fact it is the only group to publicly call for a revolution on January 25.
