a restaurant waiter allegedly raped a woman after luring her into his ‘office’ which turned out to be his apartment with a job interview and had sex with her against her will a court heard.
the 33-year-old nigerian is believed to have brought a shirt for the ugandan woman to wear instead of her clothes so he could take her pictures which he claimed were necessary for the job interview. he allegedly forced himself on her after taking her clothes off.
he was charged with rape in the court of first instance.
the defendant allegedly also tried to rape the victim’s friend in the same manner. the friend also ugandan was warned by the victim to step off his car when he was giving her a lift. the defendant has denied the charges.
the victim a 32-year-old on a visit visa said she rode in the defendant’s car after 8am on january 22 in al muhaisna 4 in al qusais. “he said that my friend should wait at the petrol station and she would go for another job interview later.”
the accused parked his car outside a building. “he went upstairs and called me later to tell me to go to the 7th floor. he let me inside a residential one-bedroom flat. i sat on a big couch and he brought me a shirt claiming that the dress i was wearing was not appropriate and he would take pictures for the job interview.”
it was then that the accused allegedly forced her to do inappropriate things. she did as instructed “out of fear” and begged him to let her go claiming she had a job interview elsewhere. he allegedly raped her after that. he said he would call her at 2pm and gave her dh50 as taxi fare.
