a 46-year-old unemployed emirati man was sentenced to five years in prison for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy. the accused identified as b.j. has also been slapped with a fine of dh2000 for consuming alcohol.
b.j. was accompanied by a 19-year-old student identified as s.a. and another fugitive compatriot who assisted him in kidnapping the boy and also took turns to assault the latter. s.a. has also been sentenced to three years in prison. the three were found guilty of gang-raping the boy also an emirati and threatening to kill his parents and burn his house if he reported what they did to him. the third accused is still at large.
they are also believed to have used a stun gun to assault the boy. the court of first instance convicted them on the charges of kidnap sexual assault physical assault making criminal threats and drinking alcohol.
during investigation the boy’s father a 54-year-old emirati military man said his son went out around 8am on december 14 last year to the grocery but when he did not return even after an hour they went out looking for him.
“we went looking for him all around al warqa area. then one of my sons saw his bicycle outside a residential villa” he said.
around midday his son spotted his brother the assault victim driving a car before it stopped near the villa. “i came back there and b.j. who smelled of alcohol told me that he let my son drive his car.” the police arrived shortly and arrested them.
“on our way back from al rashidiyah police station my son told me that s.a. and his friend had also previously assaulted him” the father told the prosecutor.
