Asian economic growth to remain at 5.4 percent in 2014

(MENAFN) A report published by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said that Asian economic growth is forecasted to maintain its steadiness at 5.4 percent in the current year and 5.5 percent next year, Xinhua reported. The IMF's Regional Economic Outlook for Asia and Pacific said that external demand is set to pick up alongside the recovery in advanced economies, while domestic demand should remain solid throughout most of the region. The report added that the region has strengthened its flexibility against global risks and will remain as a source of global economic dynamism. Despite the strong growth, the report warned that Asia is subjected to face higher interest rates and potential bouts of capital flow and asset price volatility, with the upcoming expectations of tightening global liquidity.
