Kuwait- MPs head to Geneva Monday on human rights mission

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) National Assembly (parliament) human rights committee members are poised to fly to Geneva on Monday on a human rights mission. During their four-day visit to Geneva, the deputies are expected to discuss with United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) the significance of ensuring independent human rights bodies, the head of the committee Faisal Al-Dwaisan said to reporters on Sunday. The committee will ask the parliament to allocate a couple of hours for discussing the outcomes of its recent visit to prisons in the country, he said. He vowed that the committee will do its best to enable inmates to have permanent social communications with their families at suitable places. The rate of ex-prisoners returning to criminal acts has fallen by 15 percent, which shows the success of the prison administration in the rehabilitation of a large number of inmates, he pointed out.
