(MENAFN - Arab News) More than 5000 secondary and senior secondary school students took part in the first phase of a talent test competition organized by the jeddah- muslim educational society in cooperation with al-abeer medical group and al-abeer educity.

'students from 11 international indian schools participated in the essay writing contest" said mohammed ashraf president of mes who also praised the school managements for their support.

the topics given for essay writing ranged from poverty alleviation women empowerment sports technology to social media ashraf explained. 'we have distributed 16500 answer sheets among the participating schools for this purpose" he told arab news.

ashraf said the competition titled 'esel 2014" is a prelude to his organization's popular brand educational program 'general talent competition (gtc)" which will be held in early 2015.

'the overwhelming participation by such a large number of students is not just an encouragement to mes but to the indian community in general and is a clear evidence of the younger generation's desire to utilize the best available extra-academic opportunities to excel in the future" the president said.

the participation of around 200 students from the international indian school in taif was one of the highlights of the competition as the students don't normally get such opportunities compared to their counterparts in jeddah or riyadh.

alungal mohammed cmd of al-abeer medical group said his group was happy to support educational activities organized for the expatriate community for the benefit of students. he praised mes' endeavors to promote education.

around 80 toppers both boys and girls selected from the essay writing competition will proceed to the first round of an elocution competition. 'the schedules for the next competitions will be announced soon after the finalization of the winners in essay writing" he said. currently the evaluation process is progressing with the support of teachers from different schools ashraf said. each school will screen the top 20 essay writers while a panel of neutral judges will pick up best candidates to qualify for the second round.

the two elocution rounds will be monitored and evaluated by an independent panel of experts from different walks of life the president said. the final event will witness the award giving ceremony during which overall and individual winners as well as institutions will be honored.

al-abeer educity the program's sponsor is a new venture in the field of education in kerala which aims to provide comprehensive education a new learning experience in a smart environment and the best facilities in primary and secondary schooling. it offers professional education in medicine nursing engineering and humanities.
