British retail sales up in April

(MENAFN) The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) said in a survey report that the country's retail sales grew massively in the fiscal year ending in April, with expectation to grow stronger next month, Xinhua reported. "This latest survey echoes the current drumbeat of positive economic news. The trick now is for this to become a consistent theme, and deliver much needed support to household spending and economic growth in the months ahead," said the chair of the CBI Distributive Trades Survey Panel. Capital Economics, a London-based economic research company, said that the CBI survey provided another encouraging sign, stressing that the consumer recovery will maintain a healthy pace over the following quarters.
