(MENAFN - Arab News) King abdulaziz university in jeddah has formally decided to establish a chair for crisis and disaster management named after deputy crown prince muqrin at a cost of sr5 million. it has also decided to establish a chair for security studies. prince miteb bin abdullah minister for the national guard is sponsoring the chair for national security studies at a cost of another sr5 million.
these two decisions were taken by the executive council of the king abdulaziz university thursday in the fourth session of the council for the academic year 1434-35 according to abdul rahman alyoubi.
kau hailed the royal decree of custodian of the two holy mosques king abdullah that ordered establishment of the jeddah university by bifurcating some of its colleges and campuses alyoubi said.
he said that the university council had also authorized some of its professors to work in us universities as part of a mutual cooperation and approved several academic administrative and financial decisions of the university besides reviewing the education plan for the current year.
with 100000 students kau is the largest university in the kingdom in terms of student enrolments. it is one of the first universities to obtain the ncaaa (national commission for academic accreditation and assessment status) after a lengthy and rigorous self-examination process and demonstrating compliance with academic standards and accreditation criteria. the ncaaa was established in the kingdom of saudi arabia in 2006.
the organization determines standards and criteria for academic accreditation and assessment and accredits post secondary institutions and the programs they offer.
