(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Doha April 26 - The Ist Congress of Insects in Qatar organized by Friends of the Environment Centre opened here today at Grand Heritage Doha Hotel at Aspire Academy.
The two-day Congress held under the auspices of HE the Chairperson of Qatar Museums Authority Sheikh Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani is attended by more than 20 Arab and foreign experts in nature and insects in addition to concerned bodies in the State of Qatar.
The idea behind this congress is to know the geographical distribution of the native insects and to identify them in order to protect our environment from their harm and damage and to recognize and describe insect pests which are harmful to agriculture both native and ornamental plants to protect crops and the biodiversity.
The congress' main points are : Insect classification Integrated Pest Management(IPM) and miscellaneous insect-related topics.(MORE)
