(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) An asian maid was arrested for allegedly mixing a chemical used in pesticides with the milk given to an infant of the family for whom she works.
the khor fakkan police arrested the maid after the mother of the baby who is suffering from a brain disorder grew suspicious when she opened her daughters’ feeding bottle and smelt a chemical substance. she immediately took the bottle to the police to launch a probe.
the bottle was immediately taken to the police’s forensic laboratory.
on asking the mother why she suspected that the maid must have put the chemical she said she had noticed a change in her behaviour and dealings with the family members of late.
the lab test report said traces of milk and a chemical substance named phenothrin that is used in manufacturing insecticides were found in the bottle. the maid was immediately arrested and later referred to the public prosecution for standing trial on the charge of endangering the baby’s life.
the sharjah police urged parents to keep a vigilant eye on their children avoid keeping their children alone with maids for long hours and treat the maids well to avoid aggressive reactions or revenge from them.
