(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Tunis April 25 - Tunisian Interim President Mohamed Moncef Marzouki met here today with foreign ministers of France and Germany Laurent Fabius and Frank-Walter Steinmeier (respectively) who are currently visiting Tunisia.
In a joint statement after the meeting Fabius and Steinmeier confirmed the European Union's readiness to continue support for Tunisia for the success of its transition experience which they described as "ideal".
The two ministers said they want to translate this political trust on the economic and social levels expressing France and Germany's confidence in the path of the democratic process in Tunisia.
For his part Fabius said "It's the first time for the foreign ministers of France and Germany to head together to a destination outside Europe adding "We represent the European Union and we have chosen Tunisia as a target for us. We express our feelings towards it in two words: trust and mobilization of efforts." The French Foreign Minister attributed his country's confidence in Tunisia to "its commitment to an exemplary transitional path and its peaceful completion of the transitional stages including the ratification of the Constitution." Meanwhile the German Foreign Minister said the joint visit with his French counterpart to Tunisia "represents a symbol of the policy of good neighborliness" saying "Tunisia is an important model in the field of democratic transition." Steinmeier praised the efforts of political leaders in Tunisia in favor of democratic development and the reform of the administration justice and the fight against corruption considering such factors a solid platform that will stimulate European investors to come to Tunisia.
The foreign ministers of France and Germany met after their arrival yesterday with head of the interim government Mahdi Jumaa and President of the National Constituent Assembly Mustapha Ben Jaafar.
