Aqaba Container Terminal Contributes to Elevating Standards of Pre-School Education

(MENAFNEditorial) Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT), the world's gateway to Jordan and beyond, recently held a charity dinner in collaboration with the Aqaba Intercontinental Hotel. The event, held at the Aqaba Intercontinental hotel, featured the attendance of representatives from leading public and private sector entities and the Jordanian business arena at large. The evening was aimed at creating opportunities for attendees to donate money towards the noble cause of funding kindergartens and pre-school facilities for kids within less fortunate communities in Aqaba. This cause was deemed of utmost importance to address, given that children of Aqaba's less fortunate communities have no options for day care before being enrolled in the First Grade. Each occupied table at the event generated a sum of JD 250 for the cause, while more money was raised through generous donations offered by attendees. These donations and grants were placed in the fund established for the cause. Taking community engagement a step further, ACT and InterContinental Aqaba Resort formed a team of volunteers to handle the maintenance and renovation of the facilities. "This event offers support to a severe problem affecting our community. Such initiatives fall in-line with our long-term CSR strategy." said CEO of ACT Jeppe Jensen. "We place special emphasis on children because we believe that education is the building block for creating future generations of leaders, and early nurturing is the first step for positioning children on the right path of achievement. On this occasion we thank everyone who made donations for this cause, and we are looking forward to seeing our community come together through initiatives that promise further development for the education of our future generations. " From his end, Mr. Mazen Abu Sakha, General Manager InterContinental Aqaba Resort said: "We are very pleased that Aqaba Container Terminal decided to be partners with us on this very important initiative. It shows that we all share the same outlook with regards to the youth and education." The event ended on a high note, and appreciation of the donors for their generous contributions to good will. ACT is a joint venture between the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) and APM Terminals - the leading global provider of advanced logistical services - operating via a 25-year build-operate-transfer agreement signed in 2006. The terminal constitutes the logistical and economic backbone of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), serving as the preferred gateway to the region for many active markets around the world. Over the years, the terminal has been a shining example of a large-scale establishment operating under a progressive leadership with an uncompromising dedication to sustainable growth.
