S. Korean economy expanded 0.9 pct in Q1


(MENAFN) South Korean central bank data showed that the economy in the country expended by 0.9 percent in the first quarter, recording an identical growth to the previous quarter, Xinhua reported. According to the Bank of Korea (BOK), real gross domestic product (GDP), which is the broadest measure of economic performance, expanded in the first three months of 2014 after growing at the same pace of the previous quarter. The growth of GDP maintained a level of over 1 percent in the middle quarters of 2013 before falling below the 1 percent level again. The GDP increased 3.9 percent in 2014 from a year earlier, scoring the highest ever since the 4.9 percent expansion in the first quarter of 2011.
