China hands over solar power plant to Britain

(MENAFN) The Chinese Avic International company handed over a solar power plant with a capacity of 12 megawatts to a British firm in London, Xinhua reported. The solar farm executed by Avic will generate over 30,000 kilowatt-hours on a daily basis during the summer, providing electricity for 2,500 houses. The project is one of eight major renewable energy projects the British government had approved earlier, including offshore wind farms. These projects are all granted to one of the government's Contracts for Difference (CfDs), which assures prices for renewable energy suppliers. "Clean energy is at the heart of the government's long term economic plan," said British Minister of State for Climate Change.
