Tokyo Stocks Inch Down in Morning on US Shares' Declines


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) kyo April 24 - Tokyo stocks traded slightly lower early morning Thursday following overnight declines in U.S. shares on worse-than-expected U.S. housing sales data for March. In the first 15 minutes of trading the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 23.73 points or 0.16 percent from Wednesday to 14522.54 according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 2.14 points or 0.18 percent at 1171.67. Major decliners included mining utility and glass shares while nonferrous metal food and insurance issues gained ground.
