Toyota's vehicle sales up 6 percent in Q1


(MENAFN) Japan's Toyota has ranked first in vehicle sales worldwide in the first three months of the current year, exceeding General Motors and Volkswagen sales, according to Arab News. Sales of Toyota Motor Corp. reached 2.583 million vehicles in the first quarter, while the Japanese automaker GM sold 2.42 million vehicles, followed by Germany's Volkswagen at 2.4 million. Toyota"s first quarter sales increased over 6 percent compared to the same period in 2013, while GM posted 2 percent rise in sales. Volkswagen"s sales also rose by about 6 percent. By region, Toyota"s first quarter sales grew in Japan. Its sales also grew in the rest of Asia, the Middle East, South America and Africa, according to Toyota.
