Kuwaiti wins Arab sports body post


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) A Kuwaiti sports figure has been elected deputy chairman of the technical committee of the Arab Athletics Federation. Fahad Thamer, a member of the technical committee of the Kuwait Athletics Association, won this Arab sports post during the election held in Cairo on Wednesday on the sidelines of the sixth Arab athletics championship due here today. Speaking to KUNA on the occasion, the head of the participating Kuwaiti team, Saleh Al-Merri, said Thamer's win of this post came thanks to his experience in sports technical matters. On involvement in the Arab athletics championship, which will kick off here today and last until April 26, Al-Merri said the Kuwaiti national team is well geared up for this competition. He expected the event to be the scene of fierce competition among the participating Arab teams. He boasted that the Kuwaiti squad had come second in the recent Gulf athletic championship held in Qatar.
