Pakistan awards 4G license to China's Zong


(MENAFN) Pakistan was able to gain around USD1.1 billion through the first auction for 3G and 4G mobile phone networks, Xinhua reported. China Mobile Pakistan, Zong, was the only winner to receive Pakistan's 4G spectrum license and also one of four winners to receive 3G spectrum licenses in the country. Zong received a 10 MHz spectrum in 2100 MHz radio frequency band and a 10 MHs segment in 1800 MHz frequency through a USD516 million bid for both spectrum licenses. Russia' Mobilink, Norway's Telenor and Ufone, a joint venture between the Pakistani government and UAE's Etisalat, also received 3G spectrum licenses.
