CPI for Australia increased in Q1


(MENAFN) The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) said that the country's Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased in the first quarter of this year, Xinhua reported. The ABS noted that the CPI, which measures inflation, increased 2.9 percent in the January-March period of this year. The highest annual inflation rate for capital city was Darwin with 3.6 percent, while the lowest was registered by Canberra with 2.6 percent. The Reserve Bank of Australia has a set inflation target of between 2 percent and 3 percent, meaning that the inflation is under control.
