China's manufacturing pace is shrinking slowly

(MENAFN) According to HSBC's preliminary purchasing managers' index (PMI), Chinese manufacturing activity continues to shrink slowly in April, QNA reported. Data company Markit said in a statement that HSBC/Markit China flash manufacturing PMI for April increased to 48.3, compared to a 48.0 reading in March. Last month's reading scored the lower in eight months, decreasing for the third month in a row. A PMI over 50 percent is an indication of expansion, while one under 50 percent is a contraction indicator.
