(MENAFN - Arab Times) Kuwait april 3 (kuna): the national assembly committee on legislative and legal affairs has turned down a request from the public prosecution on wednesday to lift the immunity of mps mohammad al-enezi abdulhamid dashti and nabil al-fadhil. according to reports the committee had declined to cancel mp al-enezi's immunity with 30 votes in favor of the decision nine against and one abstaining. mp dashti's voting outcome was 24 in favor and 13 against while mp al-fadhil's result was 22 in favor of keeping the immunity and 12 against. al-fadhil's also succeeded in maintaining his immunity in another misdemeanor case against him with 21 votes in favor of keeping the immunity and 14 against. meanwhile the national assembly agreed wednesday to postpone looking into draft resolutions regarding amendments to a law calling for establishing a court dealing with settling disputes among companies and corporations.

the lawmakers also agreed to postpone discussing a draft law calling for changes in expatriate residency requirements. moreover they approved amendments to a law organizing sports in the country allowing sport clubs to set up their own marketing companies and to have a free hand in carrying out construction projects within the dimensions of their sites. and the national assembly approved a number of agreements for cooperation with countries as well as regional and international organizations during its ordinary session on wednesday. the approved pacts were referred to the government for deliberation and approval.

the endorsed agreements includes an agreement for economic commercial investment and technical cooperation between the gulf cooperation council (gcc) countries including kuwait and the united states; an agreement between kuwait and tajikistan to avoid double taxation and evasion; agreement for customs cooperation with jordan; and an agreement for economic and technical cooperation with iraq. the national assembly also approved the foreign affairs committee's bill on kuwait's joining berne convention for the protection of literary and artistic works and another bill on joining paris convention for the protection of industrial property. meanwhile the assembly decided to postpone for one month voting on a memorandum of understanding between kuwait and the international monetary fund (imf) for setting up the imfmiddle east economics and finance center in kuwait to allow the government to present its report on the issue to it.
