Kowait- 'Probe delay in Jaber Stadium construction'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Kuwait city april 7 (kuna): the cabinet has asked its fatwa and legislation department to take necessary legal procedures to send a report on negligence and remissness that mar the jaber al-ahmad international stadium project to the public prosecution for investigation. the move was decided during the cabinet's routine weekly meeting held at sief palace on monday under chairmanship of his highness the prime minister sheikh jaber mubarak al- hamad al-sabah.

it came following a briefing by minister of information and minister of state for youth affairs sheikh salman sabah al-humoud al-sabah during the meeting on a recent report compiled by a fact-finding committee on the stadium project minister of state for cabinet affairs sheikh mohammad abdullah al- sabah said in a press statement following the meeting. the report involved contracting designing and execution procedures and the reasons for the delay in the project the minister said.

the public prosecution will examine reported negligence remissness and laxness to bring anyone found guilty to accountability the minister added. afterwards the cabinet approved draft decrees appointing lieut-general sheikh ahmad nawaf al-ahmad al- sabah as hawalli governor retired general fahed ahmad al-amir as jahra governor retired general ahmad al- rujeib as mubarak al-kabeer governor sheikh saisal al-humoud al-sabah as farwaniya governor sheikh fawas khaled al-sabah as al-ahmadi governor and major general thabet mohammad al- mahana as kuwait capital governor. the cabinet also consented to a draft decree promoting 37 officers from the rank of colonel to major general and 106 others from the rank of colonel to brigadier upon request from deputy prime minister and minister of interior sheikh mohammad khaled al-hamad al-sabah the cabinet minister said. the ministers also approved the promotion of directors-general of several authorities and state bodies to the post of assistant undersecretary.

the cabinet okayed and appreciated a public donation to establish a blood transfusion center at al adan hospital as a good initiative that reflected the great values of the kuwaiti people the minister pointed out. meanwhile the ministers were apprised of a recent letter sent to his highness the amir sheikh sabah al-ahmad al-jaber al-sabah from iranian president hassan rohani inviting him to visit iran. they were also briefed on a couple of letters sent to his highness the amir from spanish king juan carlos and british prime minister david cameron on relations between the state of kuwait and those two countries. they further reviewed the outcomes of a recent visit by turkish president abdullah gul to kuwait including the opening of fresh vistas for bilateral cooperation in various domains.
