Egyptian, US FMs discuss Palestine-Israeli talks

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Egyptian Foreign Ministers Nabil Fahmy held telephone talks with his US counterpart John Kerry Tuesday on the Palestinian issue in light of contacts between the Palestinians, Israelis and Americans. Fahmy and Kerry held talks over the phone over the past days, most recently today, to discuss possibility of extending negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians, set to expire on April 29, foreign ministry spokesman Bader Abdulaati said in a statement. Fahmy said any extension of negotiations should be based on clear framework and specific timeline as well as principles of the Middle East peace process, he said. The talks between Fahmy and Kerry took place days before the Egyptian top diplomat's visit to the US, the first since the June 30 2013 events in Egypt.
