both the teams have two points from two games and the winner of tonight’s game will top the table along with the current leaders royal challengers bangalore and kings xi punjab.

both chennai and rajasthan lost their matches against kings xi in an identical fashion with glenn maxwell and david miller playing match-winning knocks for punjab. chennai were favourites when they posted 205 after batting first against kings xi at the shaikh zayed stadium in abu dhabi in their opening match.

but a power-packed 95 off 43 balls from maxwell and a fine half-century from miller powered punjab to a comprehensive six-wicket victory over ms dhoni’s team.

a similar fate awaited rajasthan as well when kings xi made a mockery of their bowling while chasing down 192 in sharjah on sunday. maxwell went on to smash 89 off 45 balls while miller hammered half a dozen sixes in his unbeaten knock of 51 from just 19 deliveries.

chennai recovered soon though in their match against delhi in the capital on monday thanks to a combined team effort — powered by a half-century from suresh raina superb bowling and excellent fielding.

pacer ishwar pandey was impressive in his chennai debut by taking two wickets for 23 runs from his four overs.

“we are a great fielding side who had a bad outing in the last match. we were motivated to correct that and it showed in the catches our fielders pulled off today (monday)” pandey told ipl’s official website.

on the other hand rajasthan clinched a thrilling four-wicket victory over sunrisers hyderabad in their opening game in abu dhabi. opener ajinkya rahane hit a half-century and helped overhaul hyderabad’s total of 133 with three balls to spare. though rr’s batting wasn’t upto the mark in the first game superb half-centuries from sanju samson and shane watson guided them to a healthy 191 for five against punjab before going down against the brilliance of the maxwell-miller duo.

rajasthan would be once again looking at the trio of watson samson and rahane for a good total on the board in order to put up a challenge against the formidable batting line-up of csk comprising brendon mccullum raina faf du plessis and dhoni.
