Chelsea, Atletico draw in Champions League first leg semi-final

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Chelsea held on to a goalless draw in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final away to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. Jose Mourino's side kept their defences on lockdown as they thwarted countless assaults from the home side, with minor counter attacking attempts proving futile. However, it cost the West London side dearly with injuries and suspensions keeping four of their main players out of the second leg and a crucial domestic Premier League fixture. Injuries were picked up by defender John Terry and keeper Petr Cech, the latter said to be out for the rest of the season, while yellow cards picked up by Frank Lampard and Jon Obi Mikel, who was involved in a scuffle, will rule them out of the second leg at Stamford Bridge. The 2011-12 champions will host the Spanish side in the second leg next Wednesday after a tough match against Premier League title contenders, Liverpool.
