(MENAFN - The Peninsula) A two week-long Food Festival will begin at Lulu outlets today. This is the 14th consecutive year that Lulu Hypermarket is holding the Food Festival. The event will include activities aimed at educating customers about different food habits, and to give them insights into various cooking styles and ingredients in different cuisines.

The Festival, which will be officially inaugurated by Mohamed Althaf, Director of Lulu Hypermarket Group, at Lulu Hypermarket, Al Gharrafa, concludes on May 7.

Major attractions of the event will be a Rice N' Spice Festival, Cake Day, a Mediterranean Food Festival, Healthy Salad Day, Seafood Festival, South African Fest, Asean Food Festival, and promotion of meat products.

Fun-filled competitions will be held for the entertainment of customers, including juice drinking, banana eating, flavoured milk drinking, laban drinking, ice-cream eating, biryani eating, noodles and chilly eating, and sandwich and burger eating. A cake icing competition, fruit carving competition, quiz competition, and painting and drawing competition for children will also be held. Customers can win prizes by participating in the promotions. A live demonstration of baking different kinds of cakes will also be held.

The event will also include free sampling and tasting, and raffle draws by Lulu and major suppliers.

There will be promotional offers on meat, poultry, seafood, salads, and ethnic food from South Africa, Singapore, Lebanon, Egypt, USA, Brazil, UK, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Thailand.

Coinciding with the Lulu Food Festival, Nestle, Mars, Mazola, Rayyan, Bayara, Gyma and Al Islami are offering their products at attractive prices.

International brands like Philips and Tefal will conduct live demonstrations of their home appliances during the festival.
