4 Japanese Banks to Resume Uncollateralized Loans to TEPCO


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) kyo April 22 - Four major Japanese banks have decided to extend uncollateralized loans to Tokyo Electric Power Co. for the first time since the March 2011 nuclear disaster at the utility's Fukushima Daiichi power plant sources close to the matter said Tuesday. Sumitomo Mitsui banking Corp. the bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corp. and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank Ltd. plan to resume such loans to refinance 65 billion yen of borrowing by TEPCO which falls due at the end of April Japanese News Agency (Yonhap) reported the sources as saying. The banks have judged that the utility known as TEPCO has restored management stability as the government expands support for the company the sources said.
