(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) UK-based Global Brands Magazine recently named Dr Mohamed Abdulaziz Kalmoor the Best Banking CEO Oman 2014,' in recognition of the achievements that his leadership and vision have brought to Bank Sohar. 

The judging criteria for the award was based on five primary categories - corporate governance, strategic leadership, talent management, corporate social responsibility, and overall performance. The award also recognises his achievements in leading Bank Sohar towards its goal of becoming the top financial services provider in the sultanate, a press release said.

Commenting on his winning the award, Dr Kalmoor said, ''I'm honoured to have received this prestigious recognition. This award is a tribute not just to me, but to the bank's board of directors' vision and support and the hard work of the entire bank staff, who have in just a few short years of operations come together as a close-knit family to transform Bank Sohar into one of the best and most popular banks in the country.''

Holding a PhD in economics from the University of Colorado, US, Dr Kalmoor has served as deputy chairman of Bank Sohar's Board Committee. Since assuming the position of CEO, he has led Bank Sohar to countless achievements in a wide spectrum of activities that it is involved in coupled with major financial achievements. He has been instrumental in the development and growth of Bank Sohar, and has actively supported and nurtured the positive working culture within the bank. Dr Kalmoor has extensive experience working within the financial sector, which has helped the bank emerge as one of the fastest growing banks in the sultanate.

This award is one of two presented to Bank Sohar by Global Brands Magazine. The bank was recently named the Best Financial Brand Oman 2014.'
