(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Targeting the UK and Ireland market, the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) will run a four-day roadshow in the UK starting April 28. This roadshow will visit Cardiff, Birmingham, Dublin and southeast England.

The short film screening and tourism souq roadshow will have private screenings displaying Oman's natural unspoilt beauty, history and culture. Omani travel experts will be showcasing their products at the souq-inspired workshop.

Events will begin in Southampton at the Grand Harbour Hotel that day, at the Brooks Hotel, Dublin on April 29 and at MAC the Birmingham Performing Arts Complex on April 30. St David's Hotel & Spa, Cardiff will host the event on May 1.

Travel trade attendees will receive latest information from representatives from Oman Air, Juweira and Sifawy Muscat boutique hotels, Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, Salalah Rotana Resort, Bahwan Travel Agencies, Zahara Tours, Magic Arabia, Oman World Tourism as well as MoT.

The roadshow provides a comprehensive round-up of Oman's offerings including a chance to experience traditional Omani buffet along with raffle prizes such as a mini iPad, 100 John Lewis shopping vouchers and hotel stays.

From just 25,000 in 2003 to 121,528 in 2012, the number of visitors from the UK has been constantly rising over the last few years; there was an 18 per cent increase in 2012 alone.

MoT held its first short film festival and tourism souq in the UK in 2013, welcoming nine partners and over 200 travel trade and media guests to participate in the 2013 roadshow.

Alison Cryer, director UK and Ireland Oman MoT office was quoted as saying, ''We are now looking forward to the future and actively pursuing growth in the destination's appeal particularly for niche markets including garden tours, bird watching, diving and sailing, kite surfing, climbing, trekking, touring, luxury travel, cruising and MICE.''

The ministry's UK office has lined up a series of events for the year ahead with participation in the Chelsea Flower Show (May 20-24), Aspire Oman Odyssey Mega Fam (May 23-26), MICE Roadshow in London (July 7-11), Meetings Show 2014 in London (July 8-10) and Bird Fair “ Rutland Water Nature Reserve (August 15-17) among many other events.
