(MENAFN - Arab News) The council of ministers chaired by crown prince salman congratulated custodian of the two holy mosques king abdullah on winning the sheikh zayed book prize's cultural personality award for 2014 in recognition of the king's humanitarian and cultural achievements at national and international levels.
'king abdullah's contributions are a source of inspiration for people all over the world" said the cabinet in a statement carried by the saudi press agency.
culture and information minister abdul aziz khoja said the cabinet backed a statement issued by gcc foreign ministers following their meeting in riyadh which emphasized the approval of their countries on the implementation mechanism of the riyadh document based on principles of the gcc statute and importance of their strict implementation to safeguard the gcc's achievements.
the cabinet appreciated the support and encouragement given by the king to various public sector undertakings which led to their winning of international merit certificates. the cabinet named the saudi basic industries corporation (sabic) as one of them and hailed it for receiving a tribute and appreciation from the international transparency organization for its efforts in the field of transparency and anti-corruption measures.
sabic won 11th place internationally among 100 international companies from emerging economies; the first at the corporate level in the middle east; and the third within the categories of reporting anti-corruption programs and regulatory transparency as well as being classified according to the report of the standard & poor's as a company under the degree of strong management which is the highest level of classification in the area.
